The Role

The CFP Energy (RMS) Head of Product Control will work closely with teams across the business to monitor, control and report on operational and commercial performance. The role is integral to business operations, providing critical business information and ensuring a strong and efficient control environment to minimise operational risk.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the development and delivery of a Product Control framework with associated policies and procedures that aligns with the Group’s strategic financial objectives and relevant legislative requirements.
  • Responsible for the delivery of:
    • Daily reporting of position, exposure, and P&L (incl. attribution/explained).
    • P&L analysis and commentary (Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly), in collaboration with commercial teams.
    • Trading balance sheet and gross margin account reconciliation and substantiation.
    • Independent price verification (incl. trade curve methodology).
  • Responsible for the accuracy of valuation methodologies and calculations (MTM, cash settlement, inventory value).
  • Manage market curve and external price data ingestion and usage.
  • Provide expertise and guidance to colleagues at all levels on Product Control related matters.
  • Lead key initiatives through a systematic process to translate strategy into actions.
  • Responsible for the provision of ad hoc analysis and reporting, developing tools as needed, to support commercial decision-making.

  • Responsible for the operational performance of the Product Control team.
  • Foster a culture of learning, growth, and capability development to support, retain and attract employees.
  • Lead, motivate, and manage team members, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing to deliver a high-performance culture.
  • Advocate in promoting and upholding the Group values.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure appropriate development and succession plans are in place.


General

  • Accountable for compliance with relevant Group and company policies and procedures across the Product Control team.
  • Contribute to the review and remediation of incidents or breaches.
  • Proactive endorsement of and participation in change initiatives across the Group to achieve business results.
  • Lead and drive a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Product Control function and wider business.
  • Engage collaboratively across the Group, to ensure a coordinated enterprise-wide approach to risk management and P&L reporting.

Job requirements

Skills required:

  • Deep understanding of trading operations, financial markets and risk management principles.
  • Comprehensive understanding of energy markets, trading strategies and financial instruments.
  • Familiarity with the legislative environment governing the markets we trade.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and mentor a diverse team.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to achieve results through shared initiatives.
  • Demonstrate initiative by proposing solutions, acting independently, and confidently challenge the status quo.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with motivation to add value to the Group.
  • Demonstrates high ethical standards and integrity.
  • Adaptable to business change and skilled at prioritising in a fast-paced, challenging environment.


Experience required:

  • Extensive background in Product Control or Risk Management, with experience in a leadership role required.
  • Proven track record of developing and managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong technical background with experience with commodities trading and risk management software and systems.
  • Experience of collaborating with multiple stakeholders in a complex business environment.
