Role:

Sitting within the IT Development team, and reporting into our Engineering Manager, you will work closely with the Trading Desk and Risk teams, working on enhancing existing and developing new trading and risk tools.


Key responsibilities:

  • Working closely with our Trading and Risk teams to understand commercial needs and deliver effective technology solutions. A combination of POC and enduring solutions.
  • Troubleshooting/resolution of quantitative trading systems and other live analytics processes.
  • Developing and maintaining back-end services critical for trading operations, including risk-related services and access to markets.
  • Contributing to the continuous refinement and adjustment of trading infrastructure to adapt to changing market conditions.
  • Extending and optimising trading applications, with a focus on real-time data processing and display.
  • Identifying opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve the overall operational stability of software applications and systems.

Job requirements

Ideal candidate:

  • A developer who is proficient in Python and modern web development frameworks (e.g.Django, Flask, Asyncio/Aiohttp).
  • Some experience in the power market, ideally for a trading desk in an energy market trading environment; utilities, producers or trading houses preferred.
  • Experience of SQL databases such as MS SQL Server and snowflake.
  • Knowledge of containerization tools and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
