Role:

As the UK Power and Gas Operations Lead you will be responsible for overseeing and optimising the current and future operations of gas and power infrastructure and distribution networks across the UK and part of Europe.


Your primary goal will be to ensure the efficient, reliable, and sustainable supply of gas and power to meet our customer demands across the UK and Europe.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic and operational plan to deliver the effective physical delivery of commodities across the UK and mainland EU for the CFP Energy Group.
  • Responsible for the execution and management of day-to-day gas and power operations.
  • Accountable for the timely and accurate nomination/scheduling of gas and power activity.
  • Responsible for the balancing of physical gas and power positions, managing any imbalance issues and executing balancing trades as required.
  • Responsible for the identification and mitigation of operational risks related to commodity supply and infrastructure and market fluctuations to ensure business continuity.
  • Responsible for managing physical carbon deliveries with registries.
  • Accountable for the calculation, remediation and approval of TSO (non commodity) charges.
  • Responsible for the execution of trading auction strategy on behalf of the other commercial teams.
  • Accountable for the effective and accurate operation of scheduling systems to ensure the correct capture of trading desks' activity.
  • Responsible for effective communication with trading counterparties of positions within relevant markets.
  • Develop positive relationships with government agencies, industry associations, and energy suppliers to promote collaboration and establish CFP Energy's presence.
  • Collaborate with the Technology team to ensure we develop innovative systems to enhance our operational capability and infrastructure.
  • Coach and mentor team members, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing.

Job requirements

Ideal candidate:

  • Extensive experience in power and gas operations, preferably in the EU and UK markets.
  • Excellent understanding of carbon registry management.
  • Strong understanding of EU and UK power and gas trading.
  • Proficiency in Python, VBA.
  • Proven track record of strategic planning, operations management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels.
  • Confident, credible, persuasive, and collaborative team player.
